The Exelby Green Dragon is a community-owned country pub & restaurant in the village of Exelby, near Bedale, the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales. We pride ourselves on quality cask ales, our locally sourced and beautifully crafted homemade food and always providing our guests with the warmest of welcomes. After two and a half years of negotiating, the Exelby community came together and bought the pub in October 2018 – made possible by local people buying shares, together with a grant and a loan.
A renovation programme followed straight away: a fully renovated bar and dining area, brand new toilets, a refitted kitchen and B&B accommodation, along with work on the exterior and beer garden.
None of it would have been possible without the huge volunteer effort from the local community. Thank you to all our shareholders, volunteers and villagers for your support!
